Centering Equity in Climate & Health Action
Women, youth, indigenous peoples, and persons with disabilities face the greatest risks from climate change, yet they are often excluded from decision-making.
At AFRIHECOM, Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) is not a side project β itβs the foundation of everything we do.
Overview
Climate impacts hit hardest among women, youth, indigenous peoples, and people with disabilities. Justice and equity must be central to climate-health solutions.
We ensure that no one is left behind in the climate-health movement.
β Inclusive Research & Data
We collect disaggregated data by gender, age, disability, and ethnicity to reveal hidden inequalities.
β Community-Led Dialogues
We host listening sessions with marginalized groups to understand their unique challenges and solutions.
β GESI Integration in Programs
We train all staff and partners to mainstream GESI in WASH, livelihoods, health, and communication projects.
β Advocacy for Policy Change
We work with governments to adopt inclusive climate policies that recognize the rights and leadership of marginalized communities.

π± Our Approach: Justice as Resilience
Inclusive solutions are more sustainable, more innovative, and more effective.
Through storytelling, participatory theater, and media campaigns, we:
- Challenge discrimination
- Elevate underrepresented voices
- Build solidarity across communities
βWhen a disabled woman leads a flood preparedness meeting, the whole community becomes more resilient.β
